José Roberto Resende Brazão, father of Santos goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão, died on Monday after battling cancer since last year.
Santos will hold a one minute's silence before the fifth phase Copa do Brasil tie against Coritiba at Vila Belmiro on Wednesday 22 April.
In a social media post, Brazão said he loved his father, had stayed by his side through sleepless nights and thanked him for everything, calling him his biggest influence. He added that he had lost not only a father but his best friend, and would carry forward the lessons of focus, strength and faith.
Earlier this year, after the match against Noroeste in the Paulistão, the goalkeeper spoke about his father's illness and thanked coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda for allowing him to miss some training to be with him in hospital.
The club also sent condolences to his family, friends and the player, and said the Santos community stands with him at this difficult time.
