Gabriel Gudmundsson’s withdrawal in Sweden’s 5-1 World Cup win over Tunisia is not thought to be serious.

Sweden head coach Graham Potter said: “It was a cramp,” he told SVT.

The left-back became the first Leeds United player to feature at the tournament when he started, despite a slight doubt after a brief illness on arrival at Sweden’s training camp in Dallas last week. He was taken off after 65 minutes. He had played only one game in seven weeks after a hamstring injury suffered in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.

Used as a wing-back in Potter’s set-up, as under Daniel Farke at Leeds last season, Gudmundsson impressed defensively against Tunisia with a team-high five clearances and three successful aerial duels.

Sweden face the Netherlands in five days, on Saturday at 6pm UK time. A win would all but secure progress before meeting Japan, whose midfielder Ao Tanaka did not feature in their 2-2 draw with the Dutch on Sunday.
