Gabriel Gudmundsson says he is content at Leeds United and is not focused on talk of Chelsea interest, viewing it as recognition of his form.
“I haven’t had a focus on it because there has been so much with Leeds, the World Cup and then I have become a father now so I have really zoned out from that part of football,” he said. “But it’s nice that they see me as an alternative and it’s a sign that something good has been done, then we’ll see what happens but I’m happy where I am.” Sport Witness reports that he made those comments.
The 27-year-old has just completed his first season at Elland Road, extended by World Cup duty with Sweden. He played all four matches as they reached the last-32 before a 3-0 defeat to France. He joined Leeds for £10million last July and made 48 appearances for club and country while becoming a first-time father.
The left-back settled swiftly and impressed in a more advanced wing-back role, his direct running and work-rate making him a quick favourite at Elland Road.
“Everything is so professional,” he added. “Hand on heart I can say that the Leeds fans are the best in England and they have supported us in a really good way this season. I don’t think you understand how big the club is until you are in it.”
