Gabriel Gudmundsson will go to the World Cup after Sweden beat Poland 3-2 in Tuesday's play-off final. He shook off a knock suffered against Ukraine last week to feature.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Leeds left-back started and completed 90 minutes as Graham Potter’s side booked a trip to the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Gudmundsson set up the opener, his low cross found Yasin Ayari whose deft touch teed up Anthony Elanga to score inside 19 minutes. Nicola Zalewski equalised, then Gustaf Lagerbielke restored Sweden's lead just before half-time.

Karol Swiderski levelled 10 minutes after the restart and extra-time loomed, but Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres struck on 88 minutes to settle it.

Elsewhere, Noah Okafor was not in Switzerland's squad for a 0-0 draw in Norway, having also missed last week's loss to Germany amid reports of a training knock. Neither Okafor nor Granit Xhaka were selected, with the decision described as precautionary and agreed between players and staff as both return from injury.

Ao Tanaka came on for 16 minutes at Wembley as Japan beat a dismal England 1-0, Brighton winger Karou Mitoma finishing a slick first-half counter.

Joe Rodon and Karl Darlow played the full match as Wales drew 1-1 with Northern Ireland, Ethan Ampadu and Daniel James appeared from the bench.

Jaka Bijol captained Slovenia and completed 90 minutes in a 3-2 win over Montenegro. Brenden Aaronson featured late as the USA lost 2-0 at home to Portugal.
