Manchester City are reportedly showing interest in Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara as they begin plans for a major summer rebuild.
According to Foot Mercato, City have added the 25-year-old Brazilian to their shortlist ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Pep Guardiola wants to refresh his ageing squad after a disappointing season.
The club wants to bring in new players who can push them back to their usual level. Midfield changes are expected with Kevin De Bruyne leaving the club at the end of the season.
Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva may also depart or have reduced roles in the coming months. This has prompted the club to seek fresh midfield options, and Sara is among the players being tracked.
City have already contacted the player’s camp, signalling serious interest ahead of a potential bid.
Sara joined Galatasaray from Norwich City last summer for around £20 million. The Turkish side are unlikely to let him go cheaply.
Sara is under contract until 2029, which puts Galatasaray in a strong position to negotiate. In his short time in Turkey, he has become an important player, starting 38 of 41 matches this season.
He has chipped in with two goals and eight assists, showing his impact from midfield. Guardiola values his flexibility, as the Brazilian can play as a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder, or in central roles.
Despite his progress, there are questions about whether he is ready for the demands of Premier League football. Even so, Manchester City are keen to explore the deal as they prepare for a busy transfer window.
In January, City signed Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Vitor Reis as part of their early rebuild.
Sara could be the next piece added as Guardiola looks to reshape the squad for another title push.
