Galatasaray have opened talks with Manchester City over the possible signing of centre-back Manuel Akanji, according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu.
Discussions have already begun between the two clubs, with Galatasaray determined to bring the Swiss defender to Istanbul.
The player’s representatives are in direct contact with the Turkish champions to study their proposal.
Akanji’s agents are expected in Istanbul to meet with Galatasaray officials this week.
The move signals the ambition of the club, who want experienced players capable of guiding them through a busy campaign.
The 30-year-old defender joined Man City from Borussia Dortmund for €17 million in 2022.
Since his arrival, he has developed into a reliable option for manager Pep Guardiola.
Akanji has collected several major honours with City. He helped the club lift two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
The defender is yet to decide on his future and has not confirmed if he is open to leaving Man City.
Galatasaray are also keeping tabs on another Man City star. Goalkeeper Ederson is a target to strengthen the squad this summer.
