Galatasaray are weighing up a move for Manchester City’s Phil Foden, with the England midfielder said to be open to a new challenge after mixed minutes last season.

Fanatik reports that the Istanbul club have made Foden their dream target at around €70 million. The 26-year-old is said to have agreed a new City contract in May, though it has not been announced, and his current deal runs only to next summer.

Club president Dursun Ozbek is keen to deliver a statement signing and has handed full authority to agent George Gardi, who has been involved in bringing high-profile arrivals to Nef Stadium. Gardi is said to have first presented Foden to the board.

The scale of any deal would be considerable given his status and valuation, yet the board are prepared to stretch to make it happen. Rival European clubs are also monitoring his situation.

While Foden tops the list, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes is another option under consideration. The club are also keeping tabs on younger profiles, including Eintracht Frankfurt’s Can Uzun and Brighton forward Julio Enciso.

Foden appeared in 50 matches for City last season, scoring 10 and supplying seven assists. Even so, that output did not secure him a place in England’s final World Cup squad. It remains to be seen if Fenerbahce emerge as a potential destination.
