New signing Antoine Semenyo scored one and assisted another as we cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 10-1 victory over Exeter City at the Etihad Stadium.
The first big chance of the game fell to the League One visitors inside five minutes, but Ed Turns’ close-range header from a corner was superbly tipped over the bar by James Trafford.
We recovered from the early scare and took the lead after 12 minutes, as Max Alleyne reacted quickest to poke in his first goal for City, before Rodri blasted a long-range into the bottom corner to double our lead before the half-hour mark.
After 42 minutes, a Rayan Cherki corner wreaked havoc inside the six-yard box, and the ball cannoned off Exeter’s Jake Doyle-Hayes and into the net, before a second own goal before the interval, this time from Jack Fitzwater made it 4-0 at the break.
Four minutes after the break, we added our fifth as new signing Semenyo whipped in a vicious cross which Rico Lewis expertly directed into the corner of the net, before Semenyo turned from provider to scorer, racing through on goal to slot in a debut goal.
Tijjani Reijnders then added a wonderful seventh, curling into the corner from outside the box and it soon became eight, as Nico O’Reilly’s incredible header from 12 yards found the bottom corner.
Ryan McAidoo made it nine with a drilled finish to also grab a debut goal, before Exeter got one back with an impressive finish from George Birch.
Lewis crashed in our tenth in stoppage time to equal our biggest-ever victory as we cruised into the fourth round of the competition.
