Liverpool are facing a period of upheaval this summer.

There are decisions to be made over several key players - including those who have been at the club for a long time.

Ibrahima Konate for example is out of contract in summer 2026 - with no new deal yet on the horizon. It’s believed Richard Hughes would like to give the Frenchman a new contract but has been unsuccessful in tying him down thus far.

Then there’s Alisson Becker. The Premier League champions are set to trigger a one-year extension in the goalkeeper’s contract - but may entertain a transfer bid from overseas with Giorgi Mamardashvili primed to take over.

Liverpool’s experienced heads therefore could come under scrutiny - and it looks like a decision has been made on Andy Robertson too.

Andy Robertson is leaving

Like Konate the 31-year-old Scot is out of contract at the end of the season. Tottenham came forward with a bid over the winter - which was knocked back as there wasn’t a suitable replacement available.

Given Robertson’s experience and leadership qualities it has been mooted that he too would be offered a new deal to provide cover and competition for Milos Kerkez.

But it looks like the £160k per week defender will be seeking a new employer come summer - as David Lynch tells Anfield Index that it’s a “certainty” for Robertson to leave.

'No chance' of new contract

“Robertson, for me, that’s a certainty that he will go now… there’s no chance of a new contract now and he will depart,” he says.

Robertson has been at Anfield since 2017 - winning a host of honours - but it looks like his time is up.

Clubs in the Premier League - including Crystal Palace and Aston Villa - have been linked with a move while Celtic could also be a destination for the Scotland captain.

Robbo has got plenty to offer and fans would hate to see him leave - but right now it looks as though Richard Hughes has made his mind up.
