Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to Sky Sport after the match.

The Giallorossi coach commented on the match: “We’ve never been short of answers. This group has always been extraordinary, whoever they play with.”

“It’s clear that an incident is needed. After the red card, it was difficult, and one way to equalize was through a dead ball or a throw-in. Ziolkowski scored a beautiful goal.”

Gasperini spoke about working with young players: “I’ve been working with young players all my life. I’ve always had the opportunity to work with a responsible group that always gives them confidence and a word of support. Beyond what I can do, they are an injection of confidence and professionalism for the young players.”

On the round of 16 and being the favorite: “I don’t know if we’re among the favorites. It wasn’t such a disappointment to play in the playoffs; through the games we’ve grown and improved, and we’ve gained confidence and motivation in the players. It wouldn’t have been a problem; in fact, it would have been an opportunity to expand the squad. Injuries would have been a problem, but that’s the only negative aspect. From what I saw of the team, I’d play more and train less.”
