Lorenzo Pellegrini is enjoying one of his best moments of the season, scoring European goals against Bologna and providing three assists (against Italiano’s team, Cristante against Cremonese, and Ndicka against Juventus).
Gasperini has left behind a key player he hopes to regain after the break, especially given the difficult period where he’s losing players due to injuries. In short, the coach will rely on quality players, and among them is the Giallorossi’s number 7.
Of the four players whose contracts are expiring (the others are Dybala, Celik, and El Shaarawy), Pellegrini is the only one who could have a chance of staying in the capital.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the player’s desire is to remain in the capital, and he has found an ally in Gasperini, who is playing him frequently.
Furthermore, the Grugliasco-born coach has informed the club that he would like to have him with him for next season as well.
There has been some discussion between the player’s entourage and Roma, and a possible contract renewal for Lorenzo has also been discussed.
The situation is clear: if he extends his contract, the figures will be significantly lower than the current €6.5 million. Pellegrini’s only option for remaining in the capital is to accept a salary of €2-€2.5 million net.
The Giallorossi will not go beyond this threshold.
Ultimately, it will be up to the midfielder to decide the best path for his future, given that a free transfer like him seems to be tempting Juventus, Napoli, and Inter Milan.
But Pellegrini’s dream is to continue his career in Rome.
