Gaviões da Fiel have condemned the suspension of Corinthians’ General Assembly to vote on statute reform on 20 June, halted by a São Paulo court injunction.
According to Meu Timao, appellate judge Mauricio Campos da Silva Velho granted the injunction on Tuesday, after a filing by lifetime councillors Ademir de Carvalho Benedito, Alexandre Husni and Guilherme Gonçalves Strenger.
The organised supporters’ group called the move an attack on members’ democratic will and accused the trio of using legal manoeuvres to protect long-standing privileges and block change. It said most lifetime councillors skipped the 11 public hearings, while Gaviões attended 10.
The group argued the freeze could stop Fiel Torcedor members voting in the 2026 presidential election and deter new FT sign-ups, worsening finances.
It added that FT voting in 2026 was due to be ratified on Saturday’s agenda, alongside the creation of the Associado de Futebol linked to FT voting.
In his ruling, the judge cited signs of procedural breaches of the club’s own statute, pointing to article 97, clause M, which assigns CORI the role of proposing amendments to the Deliberative Council.
The São Paulo court ordered immediate notification to the lower court and said the case remains active, with the opposing party to be summoned to respond in the coming days.
For now, the 20 June assembly is suspended until a further court decision.
