AC Milan engineered a memorable comeback out in Saudi Arabia in the Supercoppa Italiana final, beating Inter 3-2 after trailing by two goals.
Inter took what looked like a commanding lead in the game when Lautaro Martinez and Mehdi Taremi either side of the half-time whistle, meaning it looked like they were heading for a fourth straight Super Cup trophy.
What Milan showed in the semi-final against Juventus is that they will not give up easily, and they hit back in stunning fashion. Theo Hernandez scored with a free-kick to make it a one-goal game, Christian Pulisic equalised and then Tammy Abraham won it in the dying moments.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has their player ratings from the game, starting with the overall performance of the team and that of the head coach Sergio Conceicao, both of which earned an 8 out of 10.
The man of the match was substitute Rafael Leao for the way that he changed the game, earning an 8 as well, while Malick Thiaw struggled the most at the back and got a 5.
Alex Jimenez (5), Tijjani Reijnders (5.5) and Emerson Royal (5.5) were the starters who offered little impact, while Fikayo Tomori got a passing grade of 6.
Yunus Musah and Alvaro Morata were given a 6.5, Mike Maignan, then Youssouf Fofana and Tammy Abraham got a 7. Theo Hernandez was awarded half a mark more, and Christian Pulisic was awarded an 8.
