Michael Olise is currently one of the most sought-after attacking players in European soccer – and is therefore regularly linked with a move to top clubs such as Real Madrid or Liverpool FC. But Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, of all people, is clearly dampening hopes of a transfer for the Bayern star

On the sidelines of the Champions League quarter-final between FC Bayern and Real Madrid, Gerrard spoke to TNT Sports about the Frenchman’s future – and asked a crucial question: „The problem is: why should he leave Bayern?“ For the former Reds captain, there are currently hardly any arguments in favor of a departure from Munich

Gerrard sees Olise „in the right place“

Gerrard continued his assessment and referred to the sporting situation at the record champions: „A big club, they are aiming for the big titles. Probably one of the strongest Bayern teams in a long time.“ In addition, Olise made a „happy“ impression on him and is currently in exactly the right place to continue his development

Gerrard also believes that the Bayern star is ideally positioned for the upcoming major tournaments and that Olise has the potential to play his way to the fore on the biggest stage – another reason why a transfer would make little sense at present

Nevertheless, the Englishman did not let a little wishful thinking get in the way: „I don’t think he’s going anywhere. But would I like to see him at Liverpool? Yes!“

Bayern relaxed – Olise without thoughts of a move

There are currently no signs of a possible departure from FC Bayern itself either. As reported by BILD, Olise „currently has no thoughts of leaving and feels comfortable in Munich“. The attacking player is tied to the club long-term until 2029 – there is no exit clause

His sporting performances underpin this situation impressively. In the current season, Olise has scored a strong 45 direct goals in 41 competitive matches. With 16 goals and 29 assists, he is one of the most productive attacking players in Europe and is an integral part of Vincent Kompany’s system

The transfer of the Frenchman, who arrived from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 for around €53 million, has long since paid off for FC Bayern. Olise is not only a key player in sporting terms, but also a face of the current team

The message is therefore clear: despite the great interest from abroad, everything currently speaks in favour of him staying in Munich. And even a Liverpool fan like Steven Gerrard has to acknowledge that the Bayern star currently has no reason to take the next step.
