Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has opened up on the ongoing impasse between the Italian and the Ligue 1 club over his contract.

Donnarumma played an instrumental role in the French champions’ route to a historic treble-winning season, comfortably winning the Ligue 1 and sealing UEFA Champions League glory for the first time in the club’s history courtesy of a 5-0 thrashing of Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena.

The 26-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his current deal at the Parc des Princes as it remains to be seen whether Luis Enrique and the PSG board agree to meet Donnarumma’s financial expectations and sign their prolific shotstopper to a new long-term deal.

However, should all parties fail to agree on a new deal, this summer would be the ideal time for the Parisiens to cash in on Donnarumma, who has attracted interest from the Etihad Stadium in what will be a busy summer of incomings and outgoings.

Ederson has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and would have been allowed to leave last summer had s suitor club met Manchester City’s reported £50 million valuation of the Brazil international.

Stefan Ortega Moreno stirred doubts over his Manchester City future in March when he refused to rule out a potential exit in the summer whilst on international duty. The 32-year-old, like Ederson, is entering the final 12 months of his current deal.

Pep Guardiola recently said he expects Ederson and Ortega Moreno to stay put into the new campaign and whilst suitor clubs could still test the waters with regards to a sale, the Manchester City manager often has the final say in terms of transfers.

“I don’t know much about goalkeepers (joining or leaving) – I tell them to stay. We’ve talked about the situation of the squad and the two goalkeepers (Ederson and Ortega Moreno) we have will stay,” Guardiola said, as quoted by Ferran Correas.

However, there remains a strong intent amongst clubs in Saudi Arabia to tempt Manchester City and Ederson to agree on a move and with the summer transfer window only just underway, the sands could shift and so could City’s stance on the goalkeeper pair particularly given the time left on their respective contracts.

Speaking in the aftermath of PSG’s UEFA Champions League final victory over Inter Milan at the weekend, Donnarumma was pressed on how he looks at his future in Paris as he enters the final year of his contract, with the Italian understood to have been left unsatisfied with the terms he’s been offered so far.

“New deal or leaving? We will see what happens? I don’t know. It’s time to enjoy this magic season now. I will go on holiday and then we will see,” the newly-crowned European champion said, as quoted by Mail Sport.

Ederson and Ortega Moreno look set to stay at the Etihad Stadium into next season but Donnarumma would be a statement coup for incoming sporting director Hugo Viana and the rest of the Manchester City hierarchy should they decide to strengthen between the sticks to go out and compete on all fronts next term.
