Giovanni Leoni suffers ACL injury on Liverpool debut

Teenager Giovanni Leoni suffered a torn ACL in his Liverpool debut against Southampton last night, with the defender expected to miss several months.

The Italian was stretchered off in the 81st minute of the Reds' 2-1 win at home to the Championship side with Milos Kerkez taking his place.

After an impressive debut, the defender is now likely to miss the majority, if not the remainder, of the 2025/26 season with journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that the player will try to return before the end of the campaign.

Italy youth international Leoni joined the club from Parma last month in a £26 million deal as a highly-tipped young prospect.
