Crystal Palace claimed a thrilling win over Liverpool at Selhurst Park, with the Eagles continuing their remarkable unbeaten run.
The South London club took the lead through Liverpool torturer Ismaila Sarr, and the Eagles pushed to double their lead, causing the Reds all sorts of problems.
Palace conceded a late equaliser but still managed to secure the winner before the final whistle via substitute Eddie Nketiah.
Eagles boss Oliver Glasner was thrilled with the result and praised the matchwinner, who came on from the bench to make a telling impact.
On Nketiah, Glasner said in his post-match comments, “It’s good to have him back.
“At the end of last season, he showed at the end of last season that he can score many goals.
“He scored two against Wolves in our last home game. It’s good. He’s so ambitious and is working very hard, which he got the reward for today.”
“One of our slogans is: If you invest, you get something back. It’s one of the credences in my life.
“Eddie is investing so much, and he got the reward with the matchwinner in front of our fans, getting celebrated. Well done, Eddie.”
Nketiah struggled to get going last season following his switch from Arsenal, but began to find his groove towards the end of the campaign, bagging essential goals in the cups.
This is only his second appearance of the season, and he is already off the mark. The 26-year-old can play a pivotal role as the Eagles look to keep up this early momentum.
Nketiah is a solid option to have behind Jean-Philippe Mateta and will hope he can keep delivering the goods for Palace.
Crystal Palace turn their attention to Dynamo Kyiv this Thursday for their Europa Conference League commitment, and Nketiah’s heroics might earn him a start.
