Birmingham City are eyeing a busy January, but Chris Davies and co. could be set to miss out on Abdoulie Manneh and may have to look elsewhere for another forward this month.

Manneh's move to Birmingham has hit a snag and looks to be off, but they want to add more numbers to their ranks. Kai Wagner is the only addition Davies has made so far, with a play-off push in mind for Birmingham during the second half of the campaign.

Manneh could be utilised as a wide forward or more centrally, with a versatile attacker perhaps now on the club's agenda. One example includes that of a League One star, as interest is mounting in Barnsley forward Keillor-Dunn this month.

Barnsley have been told to demand £5 million for their star player as well, with Birmingham tipped to go for Keillor-Dunn amid growing interest in the 28-year-old from Championship clubs.

Davis Keillor-Dunn could be the answer for Birmingham City

Football League World's Birmingham City fan pundit Jason Moore has been asked about his feelings regarding Manneh and whether Keillor-Dunn should be the player they turn to instead this month.

He said: "Yeah, it's not ideal. I'd be curious to see why it's collapsed. I feel like there has got to be a middle man, maybe an agent, maybe trying to pull some strings. Unless the club have maybe come and asked for more money.

"But I'd be very interested to see why it's failed. You'd think he'd get his move at some point, whether it be with Blues or not. I'm probably a bit disappointed in the club. I guess it happens but I would've liked to have seen this one get over the line.

"From what I've seen, he looks like a good player and he seems rated. Yeah, disappointed, but hopefully they can iron it out. But I've said previously, I don't want to see us get mugged off.

"Yeah, I would definitely go and get Keillor-Dunn now. Definitely. I'd go get him. I rated him when we played Barnsley last season. He's the only one who looked a real threat, for me, and he's looked good this season from the bits I've watched of him.

"If you can go get him, I'd be all over it. I don't think I'd pay the fee I've seen, though. Of £5 million? I think, if you can get that down to £2-3 million, I'd be all over that.

"I think he's a solid addition. It's just whether he thinks he's going to come in straight away and play, which I doubt. But I'd be all over him; go get him."

Davis Keillor-Dunn's remarkable goalscoring record

The 28-year-old is in the final 18 months of his contract at Oakwell, but his versatility has to be something teams like Birmingham are keen on. It allows him to take up positions to score all over the attacking third of the pitch.

For the likes of Oldham Athletic, Mansfield, and Barnsley, Keillor-Dunn has operated as a wide forward, an attacking midfielder, and in an out-and-out striker role as well.

Per Transfermarkt, he has 33 goals and six assists for Barnsley in 75 games. On top of a remarkable Mansfield record as well, with 29 goals and 13 assists in another 75 games. It makes him a hot commodity and only a handful of players can match his 11 league goals in 2025/26 so far.

The question mark will be over whether he can step up to the second tier with a team like Birmingham, having spent the vast majority of his career in the third and fourth tier of English football.
