Leon Goretzka is set to bid farewell to Bayern Munich before a free move to AC Milan. AZ reports that the 31-year-old, out of contract this summer, has chosen Milan over Juventus and is expected to sign a three-year deal worth €5 million per season.
The midfielder was substituted at half-time in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Wolfsburg as a precaution after being struck on the head by a free-kick.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said Goretzka was hit hard by the free-kick, initially felt fine, then became dizzy at the interval, so he stayed in the dressing room.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany described the issue as not serious, adding that at this stage, if a player feels something, the staff will act accordingly.
Bayern will stage a farewell party on Wednesday for Goretzka, who has spent eight years at the club. He will also be honoured before Saturday’s Bundesliga game against 1. FC Köln at the Allianz Arena. He could make a final appearance in the DFB-Pokal final against VfB Stuttgart on May 23 in Berlin.
