Leeds United are assessing striker options, with Levante forward Carlos Espi among those admired and no bid imminent, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post. The update could influence their remaining priorities.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports a £21m release clause in Espi’s contract, which helps explain the interest across Europe. Lazio, Aston Villa, Bologna and other Premier League sides are among the clubs tracking him.

Leeds set out to replace Pascal Struijk, resolve their goalkeeping situation, add left-back cover and bolster attacking midfield. Tarik Muharemovic has arrived, Harry Wilson too, and James Trafford is expected to join from Manchester City in a club-record deal worth up to £40m.

Up front, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has impressed since signing, with Lukas Nmecha providing solid back-up. Both arrived on free transfers.

Leeds have long explored another striker and in January were close to Jacob Strand Larsen from Wolves, but he moved to Crystal Palace instead.

Espi scored 11 La Liga goals last season from 25 appearances, plus two in two Copa del Rey games. The 6ft 4in forward blends height, pace and technique, and his arrival would push Nmecha to third choice. If Leeds do sign a striker this summer, it is curtains for Joel Piroe.
