The England international was included in the 2026 New Year’s Honours List for services to football, having helped the Lionesses retain their European crown last summer.

Our centre-half was part of England’s victorious Euro 2025 squad, just as she had been when they first became European Champions in the summer of 2022.

Greenwood also achieved a remarkable personal milestone during the tournament in Switzerland as she racked up a century of senior international appearances.

The defender started all of the Lionesses’ matches en route to a second successive Euros title, as Sarina Wiegman’s side became the first England Men’s or Women’s team to both retain their crown and win a major tournament on foreign soil.

She’s also been an integral figure for City since joining the Club in 2020, featuring in three out of a possible four PFA WSL Team of the Year squads during that time.

Greenwood also took on the captain’s armband from Club legend Steph Houghton in 2024, becoming only the second player in our professional history to lead the team in the process.

Her MBE is, therefore, a fitting acknowledgement of everything she’s achieved and continues to give back to both City and the sport, and she celebrated this deserved milestone with her team-mates before sharpening up for our WSL clash with Aston Villa this Sunday.

City v Spurs: Everything to Play For

We’re back in action at the Joie Stadium on Saturday 21 March, when we welcome Tottenham Hotspur for a 12:00 (UK) kick-off.

City sit top of the WSL table with just six matches remaining, boasting a 100% record on home soil, but that’ll be put to the test against the visitors.

Indeed, Spurs still hold faint hopes of European qualification and have lost just once on the road in 2026, even winning their last away fixture in the WSL 7-3 at Aston Villa.

It all points towards another thrilling clash at the Joie Stadium. Seated tickets are available from just £15 for adults and £6 for Under-16s, with standing tickets on sale for just £13 for adults or £5 for Under-16s.

Don’t miss out as City’s push for the WSL title continues!
