According to Globo.com, Grêmio have formalised interest in 22-year-old Flamengo midfielder Evertton Araújo with the club and his camp. Flamengo signalled there would be no progress for now.

Flamengo are prioritising their head coach situation. Filipe Luís is in the final days of his deal, which expires next Wednesday. With a financial impasse, plan B options include Leonardo Jardim, Thiago Motta and Artur Jorge if talks collapse.

Five players have already departed. Juninho joined Pumas of Mexico, Carlinhos moved to Remo on loan, while Matheus Cunha, Cleiton and Pablo did not renew. The board will pause further moves until the 2026 coach is defined to assess the squad.

An academy graduate, Araújo stepped up two years ago. He has 65 first team appearances, 37 this year, and two goals, and is regularly used by Filipe Luís despite not being a starter. His deal runs to the end of 2028, with Flamengo holding 70% of his rights and Volta Redonda 30%.

Grêmio’s midfield options include Arthur, Dodi, Edenilson, Cuéllar, Camilo and Noriega, who can also play at centre-back. Villasanti is injured and due back between mid and late in the first half of 2026. Tiaguinho has been promoted, Enzo and Alex Santana have left, Cristian Olivera is set for Bahia on loan, Adriel has joined AVS in Portugal, and Alysson has been sold to Aston Villa in England.
