Grêmio were eliminated after a 0-1 home defeat to Bolívar in the Sudamericana play-offs, Asprilla scoring the only goal.

According to Globo.com, a centre-forward and a full-back were among the lowest rated. Coach Luís Castro was marked down for a disorganised defence and slow changes after conceding.

Gabriel Grando was not blamed for the goal and did well when called upon. Gustavo Martins covered smartly and was Grêmio’s most accurate passer, heading one first-half chance at the keeper. Kannemann was beaten in the build-up to Asprilla’s strike but otherwise held firm.

Pedro Gabriel was pinned back yet still left gaps. Marlon marred his display with a needless, heavy foul in stoppage time. Nardoni lacked intensity and Noriega’s industry ended with a late red card.

Tetê showed early bursts of dribbling and passing before fading after the interval. Gabriel Mec and Amuzu offered little threat, while Enamorado’s pace brought no end product.

Matheus Nascimento spurned two clear openings and then erred inside the box. Braithwaite failed to convert any of seven attempts, including a first-half one on one. Dodi’s influence dipped after the goal and Villasanti could not steady a disjointed midfield.
