Grêmio went in front but were pegged back by Bragantino in a Thursday night draw at the Arena.
Goalkeeper Weverton produced vital saves and, in the first half, launched moves with composed passing. According to Globo.com, his interventions helped avoid defeat.
Enamorado supplied the assist for Carlos Vinícius to score, yet the frontline lacked composure. Vinícius missed two clear late chances and Gabriel Mec wasted a good first-half opening.
Pavón was subdued and errors crept into attacking phases, while Roger struggled when called upon. Marlon had difficulties defensively and in his passing, and Caio Paulista added little thrust.
Gustavo Martins endured an uneven night and Grêmio were more exposed on his flank. Viery was steadier with clean tackles and tight marking, and Noriega made key clearances, the standout defensively among the midfielders.
Monsalve eased the pressure in midfield and worked hard despite mistakes. Nardoni produced a few promising bursts but was below par without the ball, particularly before the break.
Dodi entered after half-time but had minimal impact. Head coach Luís Castro got his selection right by backing Mec, yet he was slow to change things as the level dipped and the substitutions did not come off.
