Grêmio v Santos: level on points as lower-half rivals seek breathing space

Grêmio host Santos in the Brasileirão on Saturday at the Arena do Grêmio, with the sides sitting 15th and 16th on 18 points and each looking to pull clear of the relegation picture.

Grêmio and Santos have shared plenty of draws in recent meetings, including a 1-1 in October 2025, so small margins could decide the game.

Imortal's recent run includes a 2-0 win over Palestino, a 1-1 draw at Bahia and a 3-0 victory at Confiança. Peixe arrive after a 2-2 against San Lorenzo and a 3-0 home defeat by Coritiba, having beaten RB Bragantino earlier in the month.

The hosts are depleted, with Fabian Balbuena, Mathias Villasanti, Marlon, Juan Nardoni, Gustavo Martins and goalkeeper Gabriel Chapecó injured. André Henrique, Pedro Gabriel and Gabriel Mec are suspended. The visitors miss Neymar, João Felipe Schmidt Urbano, Mayke, Luan Peres, Gonzalo Escobar, Thaciano and Gabriel Menino, with Alvaro Barreal suspended.

At home, Tricolor Gaúcho have four league wins and have conceded only six times, while Alvinegro Praiano are still without an away league win and have shipped 14 on their travels. Imortal could look to lean on that home platform against Peixe in a fixture where one goal may prove decisive.

A victory would take either side to 21 points. Tricolor Gaúcho could climb towards the mid-table pack, while Peixe could put daylight between themselves and the relegation places, where Corinthians sit on 18 points.
