Pep Guardiola says he plans to speak to the Manchester City chairman about his future in the coming days.

Guardiola’s side lost out on the Premier League title after their draw with Bournemouth confirmed City’s place as runners-up and Arsenal’s as champions.

The long-serving City boss is expected to leave at the end of this season but asked about his future, he said: “The first thing you have to understand, you should talk with your chairman first, right? 

“And after that, when I talk with my chairman, we decide to have one more year (or not), we talk everything and we’ll decide.

“I said, let the season go and when it will be over, we’ll talk. But I think he (the chairman) deserves that, right?”

Guardiola also congratulated Arsenal and his former assistant Mikel Arteta after being crowned as Premier League champions.

“Congratulate Arsenal, Mikel, staff, backroom staff, fans for this Premier League, well deserved,” he said.

“At the same time, for my manager career, one of the years that we fought the most with incredible things that we could not control and we were there, never give up, give up. 

“I would have loved to arrive in the last moment, you know, to try. Of course, it wasn’t in our hands, but yeah, today the fatigue was there.”
