Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-0 at Wembley to claim the first major trophy of the campaign, courtesy of Nico O'Reilly's double.
The 21-year-old headed home twice in just four second-half minutes toseal success for the Blues under the arch.
In the process, O'Reilly - who celebrated his birthday yesterday - became the third-youngest player to score twice in a League Cup final, after Wayne Rooney (20 years and 125 days) and Ronnie Whelan (20 years and 169 days).
The Citizens have claimed theLeague Cup for a ninth time, with five of those trophy wins coming under Guardiola's management. That run includes four consecutive successes between 2018 and 2021.
"What can I say? When you win a trophy is important. It was special because we had a tough two weeks," Guardiola reflected to Sky Sports.
"What they did in the Champions League is so difficult. In the first 15 minutes they suffocated us, we could not breathe. After that we won some second balls and started to play. I'm really pleased because Mikel created a team that is almost unbeatable.
"A fifth Carabao Cup in 10 years is not bad. Every time you win a title it looks more difficult than in the past. it is really difficult for many reasons."
The Spaniard's five League Cup successes makes him the most successful manager in the competition's history.
Guardiola's five trophies is a new record, overtaking Brian Clough, Sir Alex Ferguson and José Mourinho.
