Gui Amorim, 17, rising star eyes Copinha and Corinthians future

Internally regarded as one of the greatest recent talents from the Corinthians youth categories, Guilherme Amorim is experiencing a moment of projection at the club. At 17 years old, the midfielder is seen as a technical reference among the younger players at Parque São Jorge and his next challenge is the Copinha, which is expected to mark his debut in the competition.

His recent performance for the Under-17 team has put Gui Amorim at the center of attention in the youth division. Under the command of Raphael Laruccia, the player scored 20 goals in 43 matches in the category, assuming technical and offensive prominence throughout the season.

In an interview with ge, the former Under-17 coach highlighted the athlete's behavioral and technical aspects, pointing out the maturation process the young player experienced over the year.

“He is a very intelligent, perceptive, and observant boy. He has some difficulty opening up and sharing his desires with people. Accessing him is not one of the easiest missions, sometimes he uses a 'tough' persona to protect himself, but when you manage to reach his essence, you realize he is a dreamer, with a good heart, and always eager to evolve”, Raphael Laruccia told ge.

The coach also emphasized the technical level presented by the player during his time in the category.

“He is a top-tier player, very intelligent, creative, and technically refined. He has a huge capacity to bring solutions to the game”, he reinforced.

“I am very happy to have been directly involved in his development during the period when he had the most prominence in his entire history at the club, and to see him transitioning to the professional level directly from the Under-17”, he concluded.

Gui Amorim's journey at Corinthians began early. The athlete joined the club at 11 years old, playing both futsal and field football before establishing himself as a midfielder.

“I joined to defend Corinthians in both futsal and field, starting in the Under-12 at 11 years old. I continued in futsal until the Under-14 and from then on, I played only in the field. I started as a forward, moved to defender. Over time, the coaches noticed my characteristics, such as good vision of the game, quality in passing, and reading plays”, said Guilherme Amorim to ge.

Regarding inspirations, the young player cites Neymar as his main reference, but also points out similarities in his playing style with one of the club's recent idols.

“My main reference is Neymar. I have always greatly admired the way he plays, his personality on the field, and how he decides games”, he stated.

“My playing style is similar to Renato Augusto, mainly due to the vision of the game, quality in passing, and ability to control the pace of the match. I always try to think before executing plays and help the team both in creation and organization of the game“, he added.

With technical growth and visibility, Gui Amorim started receiving inquiries from European football. In light of this, Corinthians renewed the athlete's contract in August, extending the bond until July 2027. The release clause for the international market was set at 50 million euros, approximately R$ 326 million.

In the second half of the year, the midfielder began participating in activities with the professional squad led by Dorival Júnior and was even listed for the match against Juventude at Neo Química Arena, in the last round of the Brazilian Championship.

“It was an indescribable feeling and another dream coming true (being listed for a professional game). The night before was full of anxiety, from the concentration to the trip to the stadium. Arriving at Neo Química Arena was a unique moment, thrilling and full of happiness. Being there, experiencing that and being welcomed by an incredible crowd, was something unforgettable”, he concluded.

Besides the anticipation for the 2026 Copinha, the player commented on other aspects of his career and personal life, showing focus on development within the club.

“The expectation is the best possible. Our group is very focused and prepared. You can expect a team with a lot of dedication, grit, intensity, and commitment to honor the Corinthians jersey.”

“I have always had an identification with Corinthians by following the club since I was little. Even though not all my family are Corinthians fans, wearing this jersey has always had a special meaning, which made everything even more remarkable when I joined the club.”
