He adds balance, experience and personality in midfield, contributing both defensively and offensively for Carlos Corberán’s side.

His deal runs to 30 June 2026. There is scope to talk about an extension in the coming months, aiming to persuade him with the sporting project and a fitting economic status.

Arriving from London on Sunday, Rodríguez said he was delighted to join Valencia and the Spanish league, had spoken several times with Corberán and comes to contribute, meet the group and work. He added the move only felt real once signed and he was relieved it got done.

He missed the Espanyol game, and if he gets minutes next weekend his debut could come against former club Real Betis. The move had appeared at risk at times, but club and player pushed to unlock it, with Rodríguez the top target ahead of options such as Aliou Dieng.

The transfer was worked on for weeks at Corberán’s request for experience in midfield, and Rodríguez joins winter additions Umar Sadiq and Unai Núñez.
