Marc Guiu became Chelsea’s youngest-ever scorer in the Champions League, but just for 30 minutes.

The Spaniard opened the scoring against Ajax at Stamford Bridge, briefly claiming the record, before Brazilian Estêvão the fourth goal just before the break to eclipse his teammate. By the end of the night, Guiu still ranked third among the club’s youngest scorers in the competition.

At 19 years and 9 months, Guiu had surpassed Reece James (19 years, 10 months) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (19 years, 11 months). Having started the season on loan at Sunderland, the forward returned to the Blues, making only his third appearance - and his first start - of the campaign, while netting his first goal of the season.

Estevao, meanwhile, at just 18 years and 5 months, scored his second goal in European football, converting a penalty he had won himself.

His first Champions League goal also makes him the second-youngest Brazilian to score in the tournament, behind Real Madrid’s Endrick (18 years, 1 month) and ahead of teammate Rodrygo (18 years, 9 months).

The top-three rankings shifted again in the second half when Tyrique George came off the bench to score from outside the box. At 19 years and 8 months, the British forward leapfrogged Guiu to sit just behind Estevao. George now has two goals in six appearances this season, only his second as a professional in London.
