Gustavo Henrique shared images of a bruised foot after the foul that led to Santos’ equaliser, with the Corinthians captain furious at referee Lucas Canetto Bellote during Thursday’s derby.

The incident came at the start of added time. On a counter, Lautaro Díaz tried to beat Gustavo Henrique but lost the ball, only for Bellote to award a foul against the defender. From the free-kick, Gabriel Barbosa struck to level.

The player said in a post that he was stamped on by Lautaro Díaz in the build-up. He also uploaded photos of the challenge and the aftermath on his foot, and argued with the officials after the decision.

Corinthians fans were left angered by the overall display from Bellote, particularly the volume of cautions. In total, 11 players were booked, six from Santos and five from Corinthians, as were both coaches.

It was the 13th Corinthians match overseen by Bellote, with the club recording 11 wins and two draws in those games. The draw keeps Corinthians seventh in the Paulista on five points, level with Velo Clube and Botafogo-SP, and ahead on goal difference at 0 compared with negative tallies for the pair.
