Pep Guardiola says that any club in the world would want a player with the quality of Erling Haaland.

The City striker will head to Brentford for our Premier League clash on Sunday at 16:30 (UK) with 11 goals in eight appearances already.

Haaland has scored in every game bar one this season, including braces in his last two appearances against Burnley and Napoli.

Transfer gossip has been in overdrive recently, and Guardiola said that if he wasn’t already at the Etihad, the Norwegian would be a dream signing.

“Can you tell me one club who wouldn't want Haaland as a dream?” the boss said in his news conference ahead of our trip to the Gtech Community Stadium.

“I understand it’s a dream for all the clubs in the world, if he wasn’t at City it would be a dream to have Erling.

“He has a long contract here and is doing very well, scoring a lot of goals.

“The team help him a lot and are able to make actions to score goals. When he plays better we have more chances, always I want the team to concede less and create more. Then after it’s only a game.

“Football you can create more, concede less and lose the game. It’s the only sport in the world.

“Basketball, golf, handball, tennis, if the statistics are better, you win, 100%. Football? No.

“That’s why when you have to create 19 shots and it’s not enough, create 25, and if it’s not enough, 35.”

Haaland signed a 10-year contract in January, keeping him at City until the summer of 2034.

Amid the rumours, Guardiola believes he is more than happy to see out the deal.

“I think Erling’s not stupid enough to sign something he doesn’t want to accomplish, but football, who knows what will happen,” he added.
