Hamburger SV want to keep Fabio Vieira beyond his loan, but a €20 million purchase clause makes a permanent deal complicated. Sport Bild reports that HSV plan to meet the midfielder and his agency, Gestifute, by April at the latest to discuss next steps.
Since arriving from Arsenal on loan in the summer window, Vieira has registered four goals and five assists in 20 games across all competitions.
The report says the 25-year-old has decided he does not want to return to England, after a €35 million move from FC Porto in 2023 brought limited impact.
That stance could help HSV, yet the size of the clause remains a hurdle. The club may try to negotiate the fee down.
A figure viewed as realistic for the Bundesliga side could be €10-12 million, about half the clause, though it is unclear whether Arsenal would accept a reduction to take Vieira off their payroll.
