Fabrice Hawkins reports that Hamburg’s Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer is on the verge of a Ligue 1 switch. The German-Ghanaian attacker will move abroad for the first time in his career, heading to OGC Nice on a €6m transfer. Königsdörffer has racked up a combined 152 2. Bundesliga and 3. Liga appearances for Hamburg and Dynamo Dresden over his six-year professional career.

The Berlin-born Königsdörffer played a significant role for Hamburg in last year’s promotion campaign, scoring 14 goals and registering five assists in 32 German second division appearances. It nevertheless looks to be the case that Hamburg don’t feel the 23-year-old to be top flight ready. The newly promoted club have already augmented their attack ahead of the new season with the signings of Rayan Philippe and Yussuf Poulsen.

Hamburg also presently find themselves in need of raising some serious capital in order to complete the purchase of defender Stefan Posch. The longtime Hoffenheim defensive specialist could end up costing Hamburg upwards of €8m. Königsdörffer enters the final year of his HSV contract, meaning that the north German Hanseatic city-state club will be keen to cash in on him whilst they can.
