Happy birthday, Gianluca Pagliuca | OneFootball

Reliability, personality and talent. Gianluca Pagliuca was one of the defining figures of Inter in the 1990s, a goalkeeper who left a lasting mark on the Nerazzurri with decisive performances and commanding presence. Today he turns 59.

Signed in the summer of 1994, Pagliuca made 234 appearances for Inter and quickly became a cornerstone of the side. His contribution to the unforgettable European run that ended with UEFA Cup glory in Paris in 1998 remains etched in the memory of Inter fans.

Pagliuca’s name is also inseparable from the Milan derbies: with him between the posts, Inter went unbeaten against AC Milan in ten league meetings – a statistic that speaks volumes about his performances on the biggest occasions.

His consistency, leadership and charisma were officially recognised in 2021 with his induction into the Inter Hall of Fame, honouring players who have left a deep and lasting legacy at the Club.
