According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Haralabos Voulgaris used X to question the VAR call that cancelled Ousmane Camara’s early goal for offside interference and to demand higher refereeing standards.

On 12 minutes at El Molinón, VAR sent Jon Ander González Esteban to the monitor. He ruled Alberto Jiménez, marginally ahead from Pablo Santiago’s free-kick, impeded a defender. Castellón later folded after half-time and lost 4-1, a third straight defeat and fourth match without a win.

Voulgaris argued the defender was on the opposite side of attacker and ball, asking how a legal challenge could be made. He said attackers often stand offside at throw-ins and questioned obstruction criteria in such cases, warning this logic invites frame-by-frame checks.

He added every club feels aggrieved at times, but his duty is to Castellón. He praised a hard-fighting squad and staff, said fans deserve better, and insisted a fair competition needs improved officiating and fewer subjective VAR interventions.

The published audio offered little clarity. VAR David Gálvez Rascón flagged possible offside by interference by Alberto Jiménez and left judgement to the referee, who decided Alberto blocked a potential route to challenge Camara and gave offside for interfering with an opponent.

In a separate post, Voulgaris accepted Castellón did not play well enough and said they can control more to improve. The side have gone from 594 minutes unbeaten to conceding 12 in four matches, 11 in the last three, almost half their concessions since Pablo Hernández succeeded Johan Plat after matchday five, amid reds, penalties and costly errors.
