The relief at FC Bayern should be huge. According to consistent media reports, Harry Kane has decided not to activate his release clause for the summer of 2026. This ends all speculation about a possible departure of the superstar striker for the time being. However, it is also clear that a contract extension is not imminent – Kane is deliberately taking his time

As Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl report in the BILD podcast Bayern Insider, the 32-year-old has made a clear decision. „He doesn’t want to trigger the clause in the winter, that’s fixed now,“ says Falk. This confirms what had been apparent within FCB for some time: Kane feels comfortable at the record champions and sees no reason to leave the club prematurely in 2026

In sporting terms, the England captain has long been the heart of the attack. But he has also arrived in Munich off the pitch. Altschäffl emphasizes: „The family feels totally at home.“ It is precisely this factor that has always played a decisive role for Kane – and makes a departure unlikely

According to Falk, Kane „can imagine not discussing a new contract until after the World Cup.“ For the striker, one thing is certain: sporting duties first – then contract details. An approach that comes as no surprise in the course of his career. Kane always analyses his situation carefully, trusts his performance and does not put himself under pressure

Altschäffl explains: „I think Bayern would like to make a decision before the World Cup and put a bit more pressure on him.“ But despite all the strategic importance, those in charge accept that Kane decides the timing. As long as it is clear that he will not leave early, the situation remains stable

Bayern are planning for the long term with Kane – but patience is required

Kane’s current contract runs until 2027, but the club would like to keep the key player for longer, especially as he is a central part of the Kompany era. Kane is a goalscorer, a fixture, a figure of identification – and is hard to replace in sporting terms

For Bayern, the starting position remains positive despite the open extension situation: Kane will stay in Munich. The Englishman will decide everything else after the World Cup.
