Harry Kane scored two second-half goals against DR Congo to help England reach the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup. Thanks to the Bayern Munich striker, who was named Man of the Match, the Three Lions managed to win after falling behind early on.

The African nation had a dream start when, in the seventh minute of the game, Brian Cipenga gave the Leopards the lead.

The match was one-way traffic after that as England chased the game and DRC defended deep. It took 75 minutes for England to respond as Kane headed home from an Anthony Gordon cross to level matters. Then, in the 86th minute, he brilliantly hit the ball with power from inside the box to give Thomas Tuchel’s side the winner.

“What a crazy game, their keeper made some unbelievable saves in that first half,” said Kane after the game. “From an attacking point of view, it was probably our best game of the tournament so far. We’re in the part of the tournament where you have to grind wins out, and that’s what we did today,” he added.
