Real Madrid could turn to Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, as they find themselves facing all sorts of problems.
Pressure is mounting on Xabi Alonso, who has overseen just one win in last five La Liga games. Further, Alonso is losing his grip on the dressing room at Santiago Bernabeu, struggling to manage superstars like Vinicius Jr.
On top of that, Real have suffered from an injury crisis. Amid this, they have been handed an opportunity to sign Maguire.
Eder Militao is arguably Real’s best central defender. However, the Brazilian has sustained multiple long-term injuries over the past few seasons.
His most recent injury setback came in Los Blancos’ loss to Celta Vigo on Sunday, sidelining him for at least three months.
According to Defensa Central, Militao’s injury could lead to Real bringing in a new defender in the January transfer window.
It is believed the Spanish giants have “received numerous offers in recent hours” to reinforce their defence. In particular, they have been offered the services of Harry Maguire.
The England international is currently in his final year at United, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old has proven to be a towering presence at both ends of the pitch. United remain open to offering him a new deal, albeit on reduced terms, as Ineos are keen to trim their wage bill.
The Spanish outlet claim United would be open to parting ways with Maguire, their most expensive defender, if they receive an offer of around €10 million in January.
However, Real are reluctant to sign ageing players and are not actively pursuing the former United skipper.
United, meanwhile, are reportedly considering replacing Maguire with Marc Guehi, who will be available as a free agent next summer.
