Harry Maguire has penned a new contract to keep him at Old Trafford for at least another season.
The defender first joined Manchester United from Leicester City for a reported £80 million back in the summer of 2019.
Since then Maguire has played 266 times for the club, chipping in with 17 goals from defence – some of those important lat goals like the winner he scored against Liverpool earlier this season.
As initially reported by journalist Andy Mitten, 33-year-old Maguire has agreed to extend his contract that was due to expire at the end of this season. The deal also includes an option to extend for a further season.
"Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour," Maguire said after reportedly turning down higher wages from other clubs to extend his stay. "It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day.
“I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club to at least eight seasons and continue to play in front of our special supporters to create more amazing moments together.
“You can feel the ambition and potential of this exciting squad. The determination throughout the whole club to fight for major trophies is clear for everyone to see and I am confident that our best moments together remain ahead of us.”
Magurie is suspended for the upcoming game against Leeds United on Monday but did feature for England during the international break.
