Fulham winger Wilson has opened up on his frustrations with refereeing decisions after watching his hometown club
Despite much of the FA Cup's romance being lost in years gone by, with Premier League clubs in particular using it as a chance to rotate their starting 11's in preference for their domestic campaign or for European competition, Wrexham's clash with Chelsea last weekend proved that there's still some excitement left.
Liam Rosenior made nine changes to his starting 11 from their win over Aston Villa a few nights prior, but that didn't prevent a pulsating encounter tacking place at the Racecourse Ground, with the Red Dragons going ahead twice against the Club World Cup champions.
Leading 2-1 after 78 minutes, Wrexham were forced into extra time thanks to Josh Acheampong's strike, but their chances of progressing into the quarter-finals were severely damaged in second half stoppage time thanks to George Dobson's red card.
Referee Peter Bankes initially handed the midfielder a yellow card for his challenge on Alejandro Garnacho, but after VAR intervention, he was given a straight red, with slow motion footage showing that Dobson's studs slightly grazed the Argentine winger's shin.
It was not the only usage of VAR in the match, with Lewis Brunt's goal in extra time being ruled out by the technology, and with Chelsea leading 3-2 at that point, Joao Pedro's late goal extended their advantage, with the extra man proving all too important.

Whilst the Brunt decision ended up being correct after VAR's intervention, the Dobson dismissal was highly contentious, and one person who was not happy with it was Fulham star Harry Wilson.
The Wales international - who was born in Wrexham and has been touted by TEAMtalk for a move to the North Wales outfit on a free transfer this summer should they win promotion to the Premier League - was watching on the night before his side were dumped out of the competition by Southampton, and he was left frustrated by the technology's intervention which ultimately cost Wrexham from having the sane number of players as Chelsea in extra time.
Speaking on the That Peter Crouch Podcast, in regards to VAR, Wilson said: "Especially after the Wrexham game at the weekend, obviously being a Wrexham boy, against Chelsea, obviously I wanted Wrexham to win.
"I'm watching a proper FA Cup tie, oldest competition in the world, and the two biggest decisions are decided by a fella sat 200 miles away watching it in slow-mo.
"I think the tackle, the red card, a proper tackle - when you slow it down and freeze frame it, it probably is a red, but it didn't happen like that.
"I just think if the yellow card stays in that game, I don't think anyone probably questions it the day after, and I just find that with VAR.
"Referees are going to make mistakes - let the human on the pitch make the mistake, and then everyone gets on with it, where they watch it 100 times and still get it wrong."

With Wilson taking a keen interest in Wrexham's clash with the Premier League giants, Red Dragons fans will be intrigued considering the recent transfer link with the Wales international.
He's been a big star in the top flight this season for Fulham, with 15 goal contributions for the Cottagers in 27 games, and he's set to be a really sought-after free agent come the summer for many clubs.
Everyone is well aware of Wrexham's ambitions, and if they do win promotion for the fourth year on the spin, they may be realistically able to tempt Wilson back to his home town, despite the riches that will be on offer elsewhere.
But defeat to Hull City on Tuesday night, whilst keeping Wrexham in the play-off spots, makes them a lot less comfortable heading into the final stretch of fixtures, and if they want to bring Wilson 'home', then Phil Parkinson can't afford to drop many more points between now and the end of the season.
