Last night Manchester City opened their UEFA Champions League campaign with a hard-fought nil-all draw with Inter Milan. The game was a tactical battle with both teams having their moments throughout the game. But come the final whistle have Manchester City picked up a major injury concern heading into Sunday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal at the Etihad? Kevin De Bruyne’s condition heading into Sunday’s match is a story to monitor in the coming days.
Kevin De Bruyne went down with an apparent injury late in the first half of last night’s match. His condition is now a cause for concern for Manchester City heading into Sunday’s clash with title rivals Arsenal. De Bruyne has started the season in spectacular form and will likely have a key role to play against Arsenal if he is fit.
Speaking after City’s nil-all draw with Inter Milan Pep Guardiola didn’t have an immediate update on De Bruyne’s condition. He told the media that City’s doctor advised the City manager that De Bruyne couldn’t continue after halftime of yesterday’s game. Guardiola told the media: “After what happened with Kevin and the doctors said he was not ready to play, but I wanted to make the change anyway. I don’t know [how Kevin is]. I didn’t speak with doctors yet, I will have more info tomorrow.”
Kevin De Bruyne’s condition is now a story to monitor ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Arsenal. The Manchester City legend has been a thorn in Mikel Arteta’s side in recent years. The hope is that the injury he appeared to pick up last night isn’t too serious. A further update is expected from Pep Guardiola when he faces the media on Friday ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster fixture.
