Arsenal forward Kai Havertz says he has a “new hunger” after returning from his latest injury setback of late.
Havertz has endured an injury-hit last two seasons, and has only played ten timed for Mikel Arteta’s side in all competitions this season.
But he has returned to action of late and could feature when Arsenal take on his former side Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday.
“Yeah, I think so,” Havertz said when asked if he thinks his injury problems are behind him. “I’m confident.
“I’m feeling good, I’m feeling better, obviously things can always happen but I’m feeling 100% ready to play games, I’m feeling fit, and I can’t wait to help the team in the next couple of months.
“During these times I feel how much I miss being on the pitch, how much I missed being with the boys, that feeling that you have after games, being with the boys in the changing room. I missed it so much.
“That’s why mentally it was so hard for me because I couldn’t be there and I think it just gave me new hunger and I think, honestly, I’m so happy to be with them again and be on the pitch, be around them and help them to win games.
“I had three injuries. For me, it was just tough because I’ve never felt that pain before in my life and it just came randomly.
“Having two surgeries after another is not easy but I think I’m professional enough to know this is part of football sometimes and so many players went through this in their career also.
“I’m still young so I have a lot of years hopefully in front of me.”
