On Wednesday, Barcelona will take on reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain in their latest Champions League fixture. Hansi Flick gave his thoughts on the clash, and soon after, it was the turn of Luis Enrique.

As per Diario AS, the PSG head coach gave his assessment of the eagerly-anticipated showdown.

“Barcelona have the same mentality as us. Playing against a team that has the same philosophy as us will be exciting. We both seek to play good football, regardless of the results. I’ve known Flick for a long time and also his idea of play. The key will be who has the ball.”

Luis Enrique looking forward to Barcelona return

Former Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique is looking forward to his return, although there is some disappointment that the match will not be played at the Spotify Camp Nou.

“I can’t say a single bad thing about Barcelona. I will be eternally grateful to them. I always feel the affection of the fans. It’s clear that it’s not the same, but it also brings back good memories of Montjuïc, such as the opening of the ’92 Olympic Games.”

Luis Enrique was also asked about how this Barcelona side compares to the one he faced in 2024, when Xavi Hernandez was at the helm.

“I don’t like to make comparisons. I’ll just say that I love Flick’s Barça. He is a coach of the highest level, who does not speculate, who advances the line, who presses high. I like to watch him play. I am and will be Barça all my life. It’s a team that I like to watch a lot because I have fun.”

Luis Enrique was also asked about whether shutting down Pedri would give his PSG side the best chance of success.

“He knows me very well. For me he is Harry Potter, I hope he doesn’t bring the wand tomorrow. But it’s not only Pedri, there are countless high-level players. With the ball, Barcelona are very good, and without the ball, they also have a lot of resources.”
