Serie A referee Daniele Doveri lived up to expectations in yesterday’s intense match between Hellas Verona and Inter Milan.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 47-year-old was ‘faultless’ at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.
Inter Milan claimed a last-gasp 2-1 victory, courtesy of Martin Frese’s 92nd-minute own goal.
Despite failing to impress against perennial strugglers, Cristian Chivu’s side secured three vital points away from home.
Furthermore, Piotr Zielinski netted a stunning volley to open the scoring.

Inter fell victim to poor refereeing decisions in high-stakes matches against Juventus and Napoli.
However, Daniele Doveri handled several contentious moments with authority.
Though Verona appealed for a red card when Yann Bisseck tackled Giovane to the ground, Doveri refused to send the Belgian off.
And he was correct, as the ball didn’t head goalwards, giving the veteran referee no reason to give Bisseck his marching orders.
Meanwhile, Doveri also refused to award a penalty to Inter when Francesco Pio Esposito went to the ground inside Verona’s box.
Again, Doveri was right as contact with Armel Bella-Kotchap wasn’t worthy of a spot-kick.
