According to O Jogo, Moreirense have decided not to trigger a permanent option on Hemir’s loan, leaving the Sunderland forward reportedly set to return this summer.
The Portugal Under-20 international made 24 senior appearances for Sunderland after arriving from Benfica in summer 2023, then spent most of last season with Juventus’ 'B team' on loan. With first-team football limited, he joined Moreirense on a season-long deal in the final week of the last window. Sunderland’s then sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said the club felt the move was the right environment for his next step.
He debuted in November in a 2-0 win at Arouca and scored on his fourth outing in a 3-3 draw with Estoril. His second goal came in a 1-1 draw with Nacional last month.
Recently he was an unused substitute in two league matches, and appeared only late in a 4-1 defeat to Jose Mourinho’s Benfica last weekend.
A Bola previously reported he was left on the bench for a 3-0 loss at Porto due to what it described as ‘inappropriate behaviour’ before the game.
