Henrique Araújo will remain at Benfica until the end of the season. The forward prefers to stay and reassess his next step in the summer.
Record writes that he was among the players considered for a departure. The former Portugal under-21 captain decided this was not the right moment for such a call.
He received interest from Estoril and from clubs abroad, yet he would rather wait until the summer to consider a move. For now he sits behind Vangelis Pavlidis and Franjo Ivanovic, with Anísio Cabral ahead of him too.
Araújo was not keen on another loan and turned down proposals. With some markets still open, including Türkiye until six February, Benfica still have a potential option.
This season he has made 11 appearances for Benfica, five in Liga Portugal Betclic, four in the Champions League, one in the Supertaça and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 135 minutes, he has neither scored nor assisted, and is valued at two million euros.
