FC Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign highly rated Belgian winger Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge, adding another major young talent to Deco’s long-term recruitment project.

The 18-year-old has been on Barca’s radar for months, with the club moving aggressively to beat competition for a player they believe has the potential to develop into a first-team option.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is now complete, with the two clubs exchanging documents before Bisiwu formally joins Barcelona.

The agreement is worth €8.5 million as a fixed fee, while Club Brugge will retain a 20 per cent sell-on clause as part of the operation.

Bisiwu is viewed as one of the most exciting young wingers in Belgium, combining pace, direct running and confidence in one-on-one situations.

Barcelona’s interest has been driven by the work of Deco and Joao Amaral, who have increasingly focused on identifying high-upside talents before their value rises beyond the club’s reach.

That strategy is particularly important for Barca. Financially, the club cannot always compete for established stars at the very top of the market, so finding players early has become a crucial part of squad planning.

Bisiwu fits that model almost perfectly.

Barca now have to manage his development carefully

The next question will be how quickly he is integrated into Hansi Flick’s first-team environment.

Bisiwu could initially spend time with Barca Atletic while also training regularly with the senior squad, allowing Flick to assess his progress closely.

That would be the sensible route. At 18, there is no need to rush him simply because Barcelona have paid a significant fee.

The club are investing in what Bisiwu could become, not demanding that he immediately solve a first-team problem.

Still, the deal is another sign that Barcelona are building aggressively for the future.

After months of negotiations, the operation is finally over the line. Now the real work begins: turning one of Belgium’s brightest prospects into a player capable of making an impact at the Camp Nou.
