Real Madrid’s pursuit of Bernardo Silva has heated up in recent days, especially after Jose Mourinho’s special request to bring the player to the Santiago Bernabeu.

At a moment where Los Blancos have a massive void in attacking and creative midfield, the Portuguese manager sees Silva as a highly valuable option who can make an immediate impact with his quality and experience.

The club, on that front, were working hard to get ahead of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the player’s pursuit and now appears to have got their man.

A ‘here we go’

Late on Thursday night, reliable Italian journalist and transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Bernardo Silva to Real Madrid is a done deal, and even slapped his famous ‘here we go’ tag on the transfer.

The agreement between the two parties is in place and the player’s contract has been approved. There are now just formalities to complete before the official announcement.

Silva will have a contract with Real Madrid for two years with the option to extend for a third as well, and Los Blancos made rapid advancements over the last 36 hours to ensure the deal goes over the line.

Jose Mourinho, in particular, played a crucial role in the negotiations and the player is excited about the project and the prospect of working with the new manager, making him Real Madrid’s third summer signing after Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries.

A free ‘Galactico’ signing

Signing Silva as a free agent may well go down as a masterstroke in Florentino Perez’s book, for the player brings immense creative value and quality to Real Madrid’s relatively bland midfield.

In fact, he is not expected to have a steep learning curve, for his experience makes him a fast learner and primes him well to adapt to Los Blancos’ style of play.

“For sure, he can play in any club. He’s still doing great, physically perfect.

“He can do top things. His chapter at City was closed,” Silva’s teammate Rodri said about him not too long ago, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano.

With the deal now all but final, Real Madrid can be reassured that they have their star midfield signing.

He may not be a long-term option, but for his quality and the free transfer he is arriving on, he is nothing short of a ‘Galactico’ signing.
