Right in the middle of the World Cup, Michael Olise sparked plenty of speculation. The FC Bayern attacking star deleted all posts from his Instagram profile—including all photos of him wearing the Bayern jersey. Now there are new clues as to what’s actually behind this unusual move.
When Michael Olise suddenly removed all posts from his Instagram account, many fans interpreted this as a possible signal related to the ongoing transfer rumors linking him to Real Madrid. The speculation was further fueled by the fact that, since then, his profile has featured only new posts showing him in the French national team jersey.
Meanwhile, an emotional story has also been making the rounds on social media. According to the story, Olise deleted all his photos to support his personal photographer, who had been denied entry to the World Cup in the U.S. That’s why the Bayern player is reportedly now only posting photos she took from a TV screen.
Upon closer inspection, however, this story did not hold up to scrutiny. French photographer Flo Pernet himself clarified that one of the photos allegedly taken by him was actually taken by German photographer Lukas Korschan. This eliminated the most important piece of evidence supporting the viral narrative. There is also no other credible evidence for this theory so far.
Sport BILD now offers a much less sensational explanation. According to the report, the deletion of the posts has no connection whatsoever to a possible transfer or a message to FC Bayern. Rather, Olise simply wanted to reorganize his Instagram account. The Frenchman is said to have completely “cleaned up” his profile several times in the past.

After his return from his three-week special leave, the profile is likely to change again anyway. According to Sport BILD, new photos of him in the FC Bayern jersey are expected to follow once training begins in early August.
Regardless, Olise’s future remains one of the most important topics at Säbener Straße. Bayern wants to extend the attacking star’s contract early and offer him a significantly higher salary. At the same time, rumors of interest from Real Madrid persist.
